Masterfit U. conducted a study of foot temps at a Boot Test Camp. The results:

Men's feet were consistently warmer than women's.
No boot brands were warmer than any others.
Overly snug and overly large boots made feet colder.
Thick socks often made feet colder.
Thermo-moldable EVA liners were 2-4 degrees warmer than conventional liners.
Too tightly buckled boots lowered temperatures 4-7 degrees.
