Don't wait days or hours for your custom insoles!
The DFP 2 Step Process is designed to quickly and easily capture an athlete's foot shape to the top of the insole, and to seamlessly fit the bottom of the insole to footwear.Step 1 - Interface Athlete to Insole
Total time: 6-10 minutes
- Heat a DFP podium or Podium Plus for 1-2 minutes at 250 degrees F, until soft and pliable.
- Orient the insole in the Balance Casting Pads using the locator lines on the pads.
- Position a foot on the insole using the center of the heel and the ball of the foot as landmarks.
- Adjust the athlete's stance, if neccessary, and place a hand under the arch cavity of the Balance Pads.
- Have the user fully weight bear onto the insole, standing square and erect.
- While supporting the arch to prevent the foot from collapsing, encourage the user to flex their knee through a normal range of motion.
- After 2-3 minutes of molding, repeat the process for the other foot.

Step 2 - Interface Insole to Footwear
Total time: 10-20 minutes
- Trace the shape of the stock insole onto the top of the molded DFP using the center of the heel and ball of the foot as landmarks.
- Using scissors, trim away excess. The basic shape of the manufacturer's footwear remains.
- Using a flatbelt or wheel grinder, clean up and bevel the edges. Bevelling allows the insole to fit flat in the shoe or boot.
- Grind away excess bottom material to leave a forefoot, hind foot, or neutral post. Bottom grinding also allows for easy volume adjustment from toe to heel.
- Place in the athlete's footwear and make any neccessary adjustments.
- Total molding and fabrication time: 20 - 30 minutes
- DFP's require no complex, time consuming glueing - instead of adding parts, excess material is simply removed, resulting in an effective, comfortable, and affordable custom insole!
